Kenneth L. Sleeper, MBA, PhD is Co-Founder, Co-Managing Director, and Co-Portfolio Manager at Sierra Investment Management. Ken jointly oversees all aspects of the organization’s activities, including asset management, research and client relationships.

Prior to co-founding Sierra in 1987 with David C. Wright, Ken applied his extensive background in statistical and computer applications to develop and refine computerized techniques for reducing downside risk. Ken utilizes his experience to help create productive investment solutions for clients so they may retire safely and successfully. Ken is committed to preserving clients’ wealth by focusing on advanced risk management.

When not working with clients, Ken enjoys spending time with wife of 40 years and his son. Ken earned his MBA and PhD degrees from the University of Southern California.

David C Wright, JD

CO-FOUNDER, CO-MANAGING DIRECTOR, PORTFOLIO MANAGER

David C. Wright, JD, is Co-Founder, Co-Managing Director, and Co-Portfolio Manager at Sierra Investment Management. Dave jointly oversees all aspects of the organizations’ activities, including asset management, research, and client relationships.

After 13 years with major Los Angeles law firms, Dave served several years as Director of Technical Research for Bateman Eichler, Hill Richards, Inc., before co-founding Sierra in 1987 with Dr. Kenneth L. Sleeper.

Dave earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Swarthmore College and a JD from University of Chicago.

Doug Loeffler

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

Doug Loeffler’s career and personal life are based in stability and tenacity. Prior to his appointment as Executive Vice President of Investment Management at Sierra, Doug worked at AIG for 13 years, initially overseeing the annuity company’s mutual fund platform before serving as Lead Portfolio Manager of Asset Allocation for the past six years. Prior to AIG, Doug acted as portfolio manager and head of manager research at Principal Financial Group, and as an international equity manager at Founders Asset Management.

A self-proclaimed non-athlete, he recently completed a 48-mile trek from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to the North Rim and back again. In one day.

Doug received a BA in Economics from Washington State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Marshall Quan

Senior Research Analyst

As Senior Research Analyst at Sierra, Marshall Quan enjoys discovering new vehicles for clients to invest in, as well as identifying changes in trends as they occur. Ever attentive to helping clients preserve their wealth, Marshall is responsible for investment monitoring and analysis, securities screening execution and reporting, technical analysis, and portfolio construction among other investment management and operational duties.

Marshall earned his BS degree in Business Administration: Classical Management – Finance from Cal State University at Dominguez Hills. He joined Sierra in 1999.

Yanni Dalkos

Research Analyst

A member of the Sierra team since 2019, Yanni Dalkos is responsible for technical investment research, due diligence, data analysis, and trading among other investment management and operational duties. He enjoys helping clients understand how to preserve their wealth by examining the relationship between risk and return. Combined with research, Yanni feels this awareness ultimately improves client’s results. 

With a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a master’s in quantitative economics from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, Yanni is the first in his family to both graduate from a four-year university and earn a master’s degree. 

Henry Reid

Portfolio Reporting Administrator

Henry Reid joined Sierra in 2020. As a self-described analytical person and avid fan of sports and statistics, Henry is primed for his role as Portfolio Reporting Administrator, helping clients secure their futures and achieve financial freedom. Henry is responsible for research, analysis, data visualization, and performance and data reporting among other investment management and operational duties. 

Henry earned his BS degree in Economics and MS degree in Finance from the University of Oregon at Eugene.

Joy Bunzel, PhD

Relationship Manager, Client Services

Joy Bunzel, PhD oversees the Client Services department. A great listener, Joy enjoys working with the multi-generational families Sierra serves, and the positive impact the firm’s investment management strategies have made in their lives. Prior to joining Sierra in 2005, Joy managed her own financial planning practice.

Joy holds the Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional® (IACCP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. She earned her PhD in Education and Counseling from the University of Connecticut, her MS in Higher Education from Southern Illinois University, and her BA degree in English from the University of Rochester.

Gira Patel

Relationship Manager, Client Services

Gira Patel, Relationship Manager within the Client Services team, connects with clients daily, building meaningful relationships thanks to the 20+ years in client relations. Gira applies her many years of experience and collaboration skills to create a level of trust for Sierra clients by focusing on managing, responding, and meeting their needs.

Prior to joining Sierra, in 2015 Gira worked as a Relationship Manager at American International Group, Inc. providing client service support to Broker-Dealer back offices.

Gira earned her BA degree in Psychology & Religious Studies from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.

Skip Schweiss, CFP®, AIF®

Chief Executive Officer

Skip Schweiss, CFP®, AIF® is Chief Executive Officer at Sierra Investment Management. Skip oversees all operational activities of the organization, focusing on the growth of the firm and demonstrating the value of Sierra’s investment strategies to investors.

Skip previously served as President of TD Ameritrade Trust Company and Managing Director of Advisor Advocacy. Before joining TD Ameritrade, Skip spent 20 years in various management positions within Fiserv Investment Support Services, including serving as Executive Vice President of Fiserv Trust Company. He currently serves in an ongoing volunteer role as President of the Financial Planning Association. Skip earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and an MS in Finance from the University of Colorado.

Erik Morris, IACCP®

Chief Compliance Officer

Erik Morris serves as Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”) and provides a full suite of compliance program services to Sierra Investment Management pursuant to a compliance services agreement with Cipperman Compliance Services LLC (“CCS”), a separate and unaffiliated entity. In addition to serving as a CCO for Sierra Investment Management, through his position at CCS, Erik works with a wide variety of other investment advisors to ensure their compliance program is implemented, maintained and monitored.

Erik has over 17 years of experience in the financial services and wealth management industry. Erik serves as CCO or supports several registered fund and advisor clients. Most recently, Erik served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Asset Planning Services, Ltd, a comprehensive wealth planning firm. In his role at Asset Planning Services, Erik was primarily responsible for establishing, directing, and supervising the firm’s compliance, operations, and technology functions. Prior to Asset Planning Services, Erik spent the majority of his career in the managed account business at BNY Mellon, working primarily in the Pershing Managed Investments and Lockwood Advisors business lines. Erik held numerous roles in performing and leading back-office operations, as well as roles in compliance and operational risk. Prior to leaving BNY Mellon, Erik last served as Director, Sr. Group Manager for Lockwood Advisors, where he had primary responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the investment advisory operations team.

Erik earned a B.A. in both economics and international relations from Lehigh University and a M.S. Financial Services from St. Joseph’s University. Erik is an Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional (IACCP®), Six Sigma Green Belt, and has a Professional Certificate in Project Management from Villanova University.

Adam Jaros, CFP®

Senior Advisor

Adam Jaros, CFP® is Senior Advisor at Sierra Investment Management. Adam works with Sierra clients to help them navigate market risks and mitigate costly drawdowns. Adam brings a unique perspective along with a wealth of experience and deep industry knowledge to help clients explore investment options for their portfolios.

Prior to joining Sierra, Adam spent over 20 years in different management roles at TD Ameritrade/Charles Schwab. For the past five years he managed the TD Ameritrade office in San Diego.

Adam holds the CFP® designation and previously held Series 7, 66, and 24 licenses. He earned his B.A. in Business Management from Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio. Adam is an avid Cleveland sports fan and attends many car shows in the area with his restored 1968 Camaro.

Kristine Stromeyer, CPA

Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Stromeyer is Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Sierra Investment Management. She joined Sierra in 2014 and is responsible for overseeing the enterprise’s operations which include administration, finance & accounting, human resources, and technology. Prior to joining Sierra, she was a principal of Rothstein, Kass & Co., a national accounting firm where she specialized in providing audit, tax, and consulting services to financial service entities.

Kristine holds a Certified Public Accountant designation. She earned her BS degree in Economics with emphasis in Accounting from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Vanda Freesman

Chief Marketing Officer

Vanda Freesman is the Chief Marketing Officer for Sierra Investment Management, Sierra Mutual Funds and Ocean Park Asset Management. She is responsible for all marketing and communication efforts serving our clients and financial advisors across the United States. Vanda brings over 20 years of experience from similar roles at Capital Group, Saatchi & Saatchi , Pfizer and Glaxosmithkline. Her expertise in developing differentiated strategies, digital & social communications, and multichannel planning in the face of increased competition has driven her to excel by consistently creating paradigm-shifting marketing programs..

Originally from Toronto, Vanda and her family enjoy living in Los Angeles and all the wonderful climates California has to offer.
